The BMS will be based on a distributed architecture, allowing the wiring network to be reduced in size. The system contains all battery cell-related hardware on a Cell Module Controller (CMC), which is placed directly on the cell module being monitored. This reduces the need for much cabling – only a few sensor wires and communication wires between adjacent CMC modules are require d. Consequently, each CMC is more self-contained than previous designs and handles measurements and communications as needed.
